Motorola Mobile Phone Tools Version 3 on a Motorola V265
Updating the Motorola V265 Cell Phone to Upload/Download Multimedia
- Phone version V26X_1.0.16.17P
- Installing Motorola Mobile Phone Tools Version 3.11 (MMPT)
- Close Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes
- Unplug the phone's USB cable from your computer!
- Buy the real software. Not some pirated CD.
- But a real Motorola cable. I tried a cheap cable and it worked - sometimes.
- Install from the CD or copy the files to a root directory. Its setup is broken otherwise.
- Run its setup.exe
- Don't connect the cable or phone until I say so.
- Run it, and run Live Update via Menu/Setup/Live Update.
- Exit MMPT
edit C:\Program Files\mobile PhoneTools\Detect.inf
Delete the [Motorola - V265] section
In the [Motorola - V265m] section, change Model="MODEL=V265m" to Model="MODEL=V265"
- Note: The following also works.
in [Motorola - V265]
- change Driver=265XUC
to Driver=265mXUC
- Note2: When you run Live Update, it often overwrites Detect.inf, so you may have to repeat this after Live Update.
- Start MMPT
- At the "Welcome to the Phone Setup Wizard"
- USB Cable
- Next
- Plug it in when prompted (it does work through a USB hub)
- Multimedia Studio is enabled (or you didn't edit the .inf file correctly)
If LiveUpdate dies with a self-registration error, hide the files in a subdirectory and repeat the update.
